When I quit smoking, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I won’t lie to you, it was tough! But I developed a system that helped me hugely, and I know it will help you too.
I tried to quit lots of times. I even managed to do it several times! For about a week. Then I would always start up again.
That is, until I developed my foolproof system to quit smoking. And don’t worry, I’m not trying to sell you anything, this system is completely free, unlike most other systems like the patch, or nicotine gum, or therapy, or hypnosis (does that even really work? I doubt it but I never tried it so I couldn’t say for sure!).
No, my system is very simple and straight forward. It’s very easy to understand and easy to understand why it works!
I said it wouldn’t cost you anything but that is strictly speaking not necessarily true. You will need to buy some sort of food, like twizzlers or pretzel rods or crackers or something…but I’m getting ahead of myself.
So here’s my method for quitting smoking.
Step one, pick a day to quit. If you can, pick an important day like the day after your birthday or something like that. That’s not all that important really, just pick any day. But pick the day. Mark it down on a calendar or something.
Step Two fill two LARGE pitchers full of water and put them in the fridge (unless you like room temperature water instead, and then leave them on the counter).
Step Three get yourself a large thirty two ounce cup. I’m talking like a big plastic cup you get at McDonalds or some place like that when you order an extra large soda.
Step Four get yourself some hand food. I’m talking Twizzlers, or pretzel rods. Something that roughly is the size or shape of a cigarette. You’ll need to hold these throughout the day, and nibble on them to replace the constant cigarette you used to hold all day.
That’s all the supplies you need. So here’s the thing. It’s hard to quit smoking because your body has built up nicotine levels. You need to flush out that nicotine. Hence the water.
So all day long, when you get a craving for a smoke, and the Twizzlers aren’t cutting it as a substitute, go to the kitchen, get out a pitcher of water from the fridge, fill your 32 ounce cup, and drink it, right then and there. The whole cup full. Don’t leave till you finish it.
Next, re-fill the pitcher with tap water, then put it in the back of the fridge to get cold, and move the other (still cold) pitcher to the front of the fridge so you can take it out 20 minutes later when your next craving hits (so you will always have cold water).
Repeat every time you have a craving.
The water flushes that nicotine out of your system in just a few days, and the ritual of pouring the water, re-filling the pitcher with water, drinking the water, is enough to trick your mind into forgetting about the craving for a few short minutes, which is all you need to get over the craving if you are strong enough.
That’s my system, and it worked for me and almost 20 of my friends.
